Pema Organic Breads

Absolute Organix now handles exclusively inland sales and distribution of the PEMA range of organic breads.

Imported from Germany, PEMA wholegrain breads are long-life (12 months) and certified organic. The grain is grown in one of Germany’s finest agricultural areas, with a distinctive combination of lean soils and harsh climate. The breads are slow-baked using classical sourdoughs.

The PEMA range  consists of:

1) Organic Flax Bread

2) Organic Rye Bread

3) Organic Pumpernickel Bread

4) Gluten-free Bread (made with rice). Note this product is not certified organic.

What makes PEMA special:

* The grain comes from certified organic farms and always from the latest harvest. You can be sure that PEMA products contain neither pesticide residues or genetically-modified grain.

* Only natural, wholegrain sourdough is used, prepared using the classical three-step method. This means that no chemical additives are used either to make up the dough or to preserve freshness.

* The grain is carefully pre-cleaned and intensively washed. It is ground in a gentle wet process just before the dough is made, eliminating any loss of nutritional value through oxidation and storage, unavoidable with dry grinding.

* Baking is done in ovens specially developed by PEMA at lower than usual temperatures. Because of this, the baking cycle is twice as long, resulting in better starch agglutination which makes the bread more digestible, and improved caramelisation and fermentation which enhances flavour.

* Its long shelf life and protection against mould formation are achieved with PEMA’s special packing and pasteurisation process. This considerably simplifies storage both for retailers and consumers.

The additional outer wrap not only locks in aromas and flavours, but also contributes to hygiene. The inside bag keeps the bread fresh down to the last slice and can be used at home to pack sandwiches for lunch or for storage.

The packaging materials , polyethylene and polypropylene, are environmentally neutral, recyclable and especially well-suited for foods.
