SWEET NECTAR FROM THE COCONUT

In our search for natural sweetness we’ve all probably tried them all:  xylitol, sucralose, agave, maple syrup, stevia ….

Now there’s a sweet new kid on the block (actually it’s been around for centuries): coconut blossom sugar. And it beats the others hands down in terms of taste, nutrients and GI.

Certified organic and imported from Indonesia, our coconut blossom sugar looks and tastes  just like conventional sugar,  but is completely natural and unrefined. It’s harvested from the blossoms of coconut palms and then dried to form a sugar rich in key vitamins and minerals, including potassium, zinc, iron, and vitamins B1, B2, B3 & B6.

Coconut blossom sugar is never refined or bleached, so all its nutrients are intact – and  that’s rare for sweeteners, most of which are highly refined. Even stevia is highly refined in its white powder form (real stevia is a green herb).

Says Health Ranger Mike Adams: “It (coconut blossom sugar) adds a special richness to almost any recipe. I’ve been using it in smoothies, and I know raw food chefs who are thrilled about using it in raw food desserts (coconut blossom sugar is not raw, by the way, but neither is agave nectar). You’ll get improved taste, improved nutrition and a lower overall glycemic index for the finished food.”

Coconut blossom sugar  has calories like any carbohydrate, but due to its relatively low glycemic index (reportedly around 35), it is absorbed into the bloodstream at a much slower rate than  refined sugar.

Absolute Organix Coconut Blossom Sugar is now available in 150g glass jars. Once you’ve tasted it, all other sweeteners seem, well, like, bitter.
